• One School One Book

    Dear Families,

On Monday, February 27, your student will bring home a reading schedule and the short chapter book Ms. Frogbottom’s Field Trips: I Want My Mummy by Nancy Krulik for our school’s second One School, One Book event!

One School, One Book is a program designed to create a shared reading experience within a single elementary school community. Everyone in the school community, including teachers, students, staff and families receive a copy of the book and read that book at home together over the course of two weeks. Activities at school coordinate, promote, and enrich the shared reading experience.

Even though your child may be able to read this book on their own, we encourage you to read this book aloud to your family. The benefits of reading aloud are remarkable — studies have shown that reading to children helps them listen better and longer, build larger vocabularies, understand concepts better, and feel positive about both books and learning.

When an entire school reads the same book, the buzz and excitement increase these benefits. In addition, it brings the added joy of building and expanding a sense of community among students, parents, teachers, and staff – and beyond.

    Happy Reading!
