PROFESSIONAL LEARNING COMMUNITIES

          The School District of Wisconsin Dells offers and provides many professional learning opportunities throughout the school year, most of which are job-embedded. This occurs during teacher in-service days and during staff meetings under the instructional leadership of school principals.

          Through an agreement with the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse teachers are able to develop individual learning opportunities and earn college credit. The group leader may write a plan for the learning activities that the teacher(s) will engage in. An Adjunct Professor oversees the course completion and assessment:

• Book discussion groups

• Implementing, monitoring, and reflecting on current best practices

• Writing and completing a Professional Development Plan

• Engaging in collegial dialogue and reflection through classroom visits

          Teachers interested in these opportunities should select a group leader to complete the appropriate paperwork and submit it to the Curriculum and Instruction Office.
