SCHOOL DISTRICT OF WISCONSIN DELLS

HIGH QUALITY SCHOOLS SYSTEM

The School District of Wisconsin Dells is leading in education through our High Quality Schools System of Instruction and Intervention for ALL learners.

During 2010 SDWD continues our journey to a system of instruction and intervention as we collaborate to formalize our processes. Our system consists of four tiers or rings of instruction using a circle as a symbolic response to intervention model.

  1. UNIVERSAL Instruction: Universal instruction consists of classroom management, aligned curriculum, and research-based instructional practices.

  2. MONITORED Instruction: Monitored instruction includes response to intervention when students are struggling academically and/or behaviorally. Our District has a formalized process to identify and respond to our learners.

  3. TARGETED Instruction: Targeted instruction includes specific programming for students identified. Our programs include Title I Resource Teachers, Read180 Courses, GED Options, Phoenix (alternative education), tutoring, English Language Learner Resource Teachers, and more.

  4. INTENSE Instruction: Intense instruction includes the most intensive services that public schools are able to legally offer students to respond to their learning needs. Due to current State initiatives and mandates, including ESEA and No Child Left Behind legislation, this tier or ring is in development and will be clearly defined in the future.
